Reception
Continuing the Academic Adventure in our Reception Class
Your child's full-time academic journey begins with our exceptional Reception class. Transitioning from Preschool at age 4, children at Oakleigh House experience a high-quality educational environment with unparalleled care and support.
The Reception class maintains a connection with the Early Years Curriculum while introducing a more structured school day, serving as a supportive bridge between Preschool and the formal education of Pre-Prep and Preparatory.
Curriculum
A Holistic Approach to Learning and Growth
Our early years curriculum encompasses essential areas such as literacy, numeracy, understanding the world, and fine and gross motor skills. This foundation is enriched by creative expressions in Music, Ballet, and Drama. We place a strong focus on reading as a cornerstone of academic development.
Our overarching aim is to cultivate confident and independent young individuals within a nurturing and emotionally warm environment.
We noticed a dramatic improvement in our daughter's development since she moved to the Reception class at Oakleigh. For us this is a sign of outstanding care for our daughter.

We Extend the Learning Experience Beyond the Classroom
We broaden the scope of learning beyond the classroom walls with diverse extra-curricular activities and educational trips. From frequent visits to Cwmdonkin Park, and local gems like Gower Heritage Centre, to festive outings and summer trips to Folly Farm, our pupils experience a rich variety of enriching opportunities.
